Jon M. Chu Takes Us Back To OZ With “Wicked: For Good”

The trailer for “Wicked: For Good” is here with second installment of the Wicked film series. This sequel adapts the second of act of the original 2003 stage musical based upon the 1995 book by Gregory Maguire. Directed by Jon M. Chu and written by Winne Holzman and Dana Fox, “Wicked: For Good”
stars Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum, reprising their roles from “Wicked”.

Set in the Land of Oz before and after Dorothy arrives from Kansas, the plot follows Elphaba and Glinda’s friendship being put to the test as they embrace their new respective identities as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good, and how the consequences of their actions will change all of Oz forever.

Erivo and Grande were originally cast in 2021 and the adaptation was split into two parts. While development and filming both had multiple delays, principal photography on both films began in December 2022 in England and concluded in January 2024. “Wicked: For Good” from Universal Pictures will be in theaters November 21st, 2025.
