James Cameron’s off-world epic continues with part three of the Avatar series, “Avatar: Fire and Ash.” While the first two films focused on the Tree and Water groups of the Na’vi blue cat people on the distant planet of Pandora, the action now goes to the Ash people who live near a giant volcano. The humans show up also, continuing their hi-tech colonization, resource extraction and scorched-Pandora policy.
“Avatar: Fire and Ash” is co-produced, co-edited, and directed by James Cameron, who co-wrote the screenplay with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver from a story the trio wrote with Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno. Returning cast members Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Sigourney Weaver, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Giovanni Ribisi, Dileep Rao, Matt Gerald, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Jemaine Clement, Britain Dalton, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Jack Champion, Bailey Bass, Filip Geljo and Duane Evans, Jr. reprise their roles from previous films, and are joined by David Thewlis and Oona Chaplin portraying new Na’vi characters.
Produced and distributed by 20th Century Studios, “Avatar: Fire and Ash” will be in theaters December 19th, 2025.
