Ari Aster’s latest tackles the Western with a black comedy-drama twist. The film focuses on the social and political chaos in the fictional city of Eddington, New Mexico and the standoff between a small-town sheriff (Phoenix) and mayor (Pascal) in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A24’s Eddington is written and directed by Ari Aster, and starring Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, Amélie Hoeferle, Clifton Collins Jr., William Belleau, Austin Butler, and Emma Stone.

Eddington will be in theaters by A24 on July 18, 2025.
