Any sort of bureaucracy when describing the afterlife has been fodder for a lot of great comedies: Albert Brook’s worthiness legal case in “Defending Your Life,” William Peter Blatty’s mystical angel train station in “The Exorcist 3,” and the celestial problem-solving home of Station, the alien genius from “Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey.” Now “Eternity” pits Miles Teller against Callum Turner for the eternal hand of Elizabeth Olsen.

Directed by David Freyne and written by Pat Cunnane, “Eternity” revolves around the idea that after death, everybody gets one week to choose where to spend eternity. For Joan (Olsen), Larry (Teller), and Luke (Turner), it’s really a question of who to spend it with. Joan must choose between her first love, who died in a war, or the man she built her life with.

Also starring John Early and Da’Vine Joy Randolph, “Eternity” will be released by A24 and will be in theaters November 14th, 2025.
