Ryan Gosling is trying to save the planet in “Project Hail Mary,” an adaptation of Andy Weir’s 2021 novel of the same name. The film is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller with a script Drew Godard (who also adapted Weir’s previous novel “The Martian”).

The science fiction adventure film follows teacher-turned-reluctant-astronaut Ryland Grace (Gosling) waking with amnesia on board a star ship hurtling through space. Is he alone onboard while trying to stop a galactic catastrophe? No, there’s aliens.

“Project Hail Mary” stars Ryan Gosling (The Nice Guys), Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of A Fall), and Milana Vayntrub (Werewolves Within) and will be released by Amazon MGM Studios on March 20th, 2026.
